Contest Rules

Official rules and regulations for the Lion Cubs Mathematical Contest.

  • check_circle The contest is open to students aged 7–14 years at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year.
  • check_circle Students must be registered through their school by an appointed teacher or coordinator.
  • check_circle Each student participates in the age group corresponding to their age at the start of the academic year (Groups A to G).
  • check_circle Students may not sit a paper intended for a younger age group.

app_registration Registration Rules

  • arrow_forward Schools register through the Teachers Portal. One teacher may be designated as the Team Leader.
  • arrow_forward Each school may register up to seven groups (one per age category, Groups A to G), with up to 25 students per group.
  • arrow_forward Registration fee: KES 17,000 per team (up to 25 students).
  • arrow_forward Two practice papers for each year's group will be issued to the school once the registration fee has been paid.
  • arrow_forward Registration must be completed before the official deadline for each testing round.

gavel Conduct During the Contest

  • check_circle The contest must be supervised by the registered teacher at all times.
  • check_circle Students must work independently. No discussion, collaboration, or communication with other students is permitted during the test.
  • check_circle No electronic devices, calculators, or external reference materials may be used.
  • check_circle Only writing materials (pencils, erasers, pens, rulers) and clean scratch paper are permitted.
  • check_circle Students must remain seated until they have finished or time is called.
  • check_circle The supervising teacher is responsible for ensuring a quiet and fair testing environment.

  • arrow_forward Contest papers are delivered securely through the Teachers Portal prior to the official testing window.
  • arrow_forward Papers must not be shared, copied, photographed, or distributed outside the scheduled testing session.
  • arrow_forward Completed papers and answer sheets are administered in strict compliance with the contest instructions.

error Academic Integrity

The LCMC is committed to fairness and academic integrity. The following actions will result in disqualification:

  • cancel Copying answers from another student
  • cancel Using any electronic device or calculator during the test
  • cancel Receiving help from a teacher, parent, or other person during the test
  • cancel Distributing or sharing contest papers before, during, or after the testing window
  • cancel Misrepresenting a student's age group

Violations may result in disqualification of the individual student, the age group, or the entire school team, at the discretion of the organisers.

Individual Online Participation is not available for the current session. All participants must be enrolled and proctored through a participating school.
